Unemployment 101 Print E-mail
The number of people who have lost or are in danger of losing their jobs is growing so fast it's scary! Unemployment rates have risen at an alarming rate due to the failing economy. Last year you may have thought that your job was 'secure' and you would be there until retirement. Now, nothing is safe and secure anymore. Companies are downsizing, and some are even closing their doors. More and more people are finding themselves unemployed, or have had their hours cut so that they have to find a part time job to stay afloat. There is only so many ways you can cut down your expenses. You still have to have the basic food, clothing and shelter. Yet, without a job, how do you manage to survive? How does one support a family? Unemployment compensation only goes so far, and only lasts a little while. I was just reading in the newspaper that our local hospital was cutting hours for it's staff. The hospital! Now that's really scary. So, okay. You find your self without a job. What do you do? If you look hard and dig deep enough, there are ways to survive this jobless state. It's hard to give up some of the perks that you are used to, but give them up for a while if you have to! Nobody ever died from not having every channel known to man on the tv. Shop at the dollar stores or the second hand shops. Sell things that you no longer need or want. Sell that second car to save money on gas and insurance. Don't be too proud to do work for others. Money is money, and if you are out of a job you can't afford to turn your nose up at something that will put some cash in your pocket. Unemployment is everywhere, so you are not alone.
